I'm back again.
This past month i've been plagued by a very, very slow to respond computer, and as was to be expected this was caused by malware. These past 2 weeks i've been trying to get rid of them. About 100 files were infected, most of which were windows files including windows defender. I had found 3 worms, 2 trojans and 3 virusses and lots of spyware that only infected a few files each. Friends kept telling me to backup everything and to format my pc, but i knew i could fix everything before drastic measures were necessary.
Yesterday i formatted my pc, and lost my pride and some money in the process. As of now i think pretty much everything important is installed again and it feels like i have a brand new pc. I admit that's mainly because i have a different desktop background now, but it's the feeling that matters.
As with every new opportunity to start over, this time i'm more efficient again.
I went from 70+ icons on my desktop thinking i needed all of them to 15 icons asking myself how it is that i ever needed more.
I went from 15 different shortcuts to 1 taskbar with 10 small shortcuts in it, with next to those my hard drives so i don't have to take the detour using "my computer" anymore.
Main partition is now 100GB and has room for software installations including none steam games.
Second partition is now 200 GB and has room for steam (70+GB), my music(50+GB), new downloads, and other loose files
My external drives (1.2TB) hold my movies, series, and backups.
On top of all that my ISP has put me on broadband again after i went over the limit last month limitting my speed to 3 KB/s. This always resets on the 6th of the month for me though so i'm back at 2.8 MB/s, which is only about a thousand times faster ^^
