I am thinking about doing this for a while, especially when AMD had those true quad core out back in 2007; however, they are still that pathetic in the mean time....so I am thinking about getting an Intel....and because of this, this new setup is way over my previous budget (my Mar 2008 estimate), and I would like it see if anyone has any comment about this build (I feel so horny about getting a new computer, so please gimme some comment):
By the way, I build this under the "I Sell (the opposite word) Power" website, and if you think there are better service than this, plz recommend me.
Above all, I do not have time to build my own computer, so please do not make such suggestion.
Case: Thermaltake Xaser VI Aluminum
Power Supply: Ultra X3 (Do you think this 1kW is good enough or too much?)
Processor: QX9650 w/ Liquid CPU Cooling (Fan vs Liquid: which one is better?)
Motherboard: Asus P5N-T 780i
Memory: 4096MB DDR2-1066 (Is 4k DDR2 too much?)
Video Card: 9800 GX2 1GB (I have heard the performance from 8800 to 9800 isn't obvious, is this true?)
Hard Drive: WD Raptor WD1500ADFD (So many people complain this in "New Sunny-side-up" website about the stability of this hard drive...should I get this?)
2nd Hard Drive: 1TB (I have already got a 750GB in my old computer, should I tranfer it instead of buying a new one?)
Network Card: Killer K1 (Is this really worth it?)
Monitor: 20.1" LCD 16:10 HDCP (Is it necessary for me to get an HD monitor?)
Some other thoughts: I got my old computer like 5 years ago. It was AMD x64 3200. 6 months ago, I purchased Opteron 285 and it becomes much better. So this makes me feel like getting Q9300 for this new computer, i.e. testing the product, which is what I did, again. But I dunno...
My video card is 7800GTX 256MB and I have never had any product as satisifed as this one. Back in the days, people were talking about 6800 and say 7800 is just a rip off. However, it had always been my AMD x64 3200 drag me down instead. And because of this, I would like to shoot for the 9800 GX2 1M (similar review, to 7800 back in the days, by so many websites) and hope that I will have the same satisifed result. But I dunno, maybe these websites do have a point...
